The Municipality of Anchorage and federal government are settling a protracted lawsuit over botched construction at the Don Young Port of Alaska two decades ago.
“This is a massive victory,” Anchorage Mayor Suzanne LaFrance said Tuesday during a press conference announcing the settlement.

The legal dispute between the city and the U.S. Maritime Administration, typically referred to as MARAD, goes back to 2014. The municipality sued the agency over defective work and inadequate oversight for construction undertaken in 2003 by subcontractors to upgrade the port facility.
