Business

Facilities
The Port of Alaska sits in a strategic location for global commerce, fuel and cargo distribution, and military response. It is the only intermodal deep-water port in Alaska. We are fully operational year round, and located only a few miles away from one of the busiest cargo airports in the United States.

Safety & Security
The ultimate goal of the Safety and Health Program at the Port of Alaska is, and shall remain, the prevention and total elimination of all occupational mishaps, injuries, illnesses, near misses, and exposures to hazardous conditions.

The Port of Alaska maintains the highest level of security possible without disrupting cargo or personnel flow. All persons entering the port must have a government issued photo ID and be prepared to pass through a security screening facility.

Tariff and Financials
The Port of Alaska is an enterprise department under the Municipality of Anchorage. As an enterprise, the Port is distinguished from other types of municipal departments, largely because it creates enough revenue to support its operations along with paying certain annual fees to the municipality.

Tenants and Operators
The Port of Alaska via its major stakeholder serves business and communities throughout the State of Alaska.
